"Hush, kitty. You need to be quiet until lunch, then I can tend to you leg,"  Kazuko whispered into her bag as she entered the school gates of Seiyo Academy.

The tortoiseshell cat stopped her mewing and shifted in the bag to be more comfortable.

Kazuko closed her eyes and sighed. If hiding Hikari wasn't hard enough, she had to deal with an injured cat in her bag. Why can't things ever be easy? she thought to herself.

"You think you got it bad, I'm the one stuck in here," Hikaru muttered.

Kazuko laughed and entered the academy.

After finding out where to go, Kazuko waited just outside the Teacher's Lounge as she waited for her teacher. She could the very faint breath of the sleeping cat and the joined slight snoring of Hikaru.

At least they're not arguing anymore, Kazuko thought in relief.

The warning bell rang and the staff began leaving the lounge to their classrooms. A woman who looked like she had just left college was the first to pass Kazuko. She had long blond hair that was tied back with an orange ribbon and large, round, wire glasses that sat close to her eyes. She smiled at Kazuko and headed for the Sun Class room. A slightly older man with slick blue hair and matching beard in an expensive-looking suit smirked at Kazuko in a flirting manner, sending chills up her spine. He winked at her before heading for the Moon Class. The third teacher appeared to be the youngest; he had short, silver-white hair, honey-colored eyes, and a giant smile on his face, his slightly opened red shirt and blue jeans only adding to his young persona. He welcomed Kazuko with a fist pump and hurried to the Wind Class room. The last staff member walked out and stood in front of Kazuko. She was beautiful, probably in her mid twenties. She had long purple hair, aquamarine eyes, palish skin, and a grayish-blue blouse and skirt. Her posture showed she was calm and mature.

"Kazuko Moore, I presume?" She asked. "I'm Amaya-sensei; you'll be with me in the Rain Class." She held out her hand and Kazuko shook it.

Amaya-sensei gave a slight smile and led the way to the Rain Class room. They passed several large windows which gave a perfect view of the soccer fields and gardens on campus.

Kazuko's eyes lit up at the sight of the beautiful school. "It's amazing," she stated in awe, not aware that she had said in English instead of Japanese.

Amaya-sensei smiled, knowing English quite well. "Yes, it is an amazing campus," she replied in English.

Kazuko looked at her and gasped, then smiled and laughed a little.

They arrived at the door to the Rain Class just as the tardy bell rang.

"Wait here for a moment," Amaya-sensei stated, returning to Japanese. She slid open the door and walked inside, filling the hallway with chatter for a moment before she closed the door behind her.

Kazuko leaned against the wall next to the door and waited patiently.

"Alright, students; settle down," Amaya-sensei said from within the room.

The voices started to die down, but a cheerful girl's voice spoke out, "Amaya-sensei, is it true that we're getting a new student?"

"I heard that too," another female's voice said.

"So did I," a boy's voice chimed in.

The students began talking amounts themselves again with excited tones.

"Is is a girl or a boy?"

"God knows we don't have enough boys in this class."

"I heard they came here from America?"

"Do they speak good Japanese?"

"Alright, alright. That's enough," Amaya-sensei called out, silencing the class. "Why don't you see for yourself? Come on in."

Kazuko pushed herself off the wall, opened the door, and walked into the room. She kept her head down as she walked to the front of the class, then reluctantly turned to her peers.

It was a small class, no more than 13 students, most of which were girls. All of them were watching Kazuko, probably wondering what she'd say or do first.

Amaya-sensei finished writing on the blackboard and set the chalk down. Kazuko's full name was written in fine japanese characters. "Everyone, this is Kazuko Moore. Her family just moved here form the States, so try not to overwhelm her. That means you, Samantha."

A girl sitting in the front row with long pink hair gave an innocent look and the rest of the students laughed.

Once the class settles, Amaya-sensei turned to Kazuko. "Is there anything you'd like to say to the class?"

Kazuko looked down for a moment, summed up her courage, then looked at her new classmates and said in clear Japanese, "It's nice to meet you all. I hope we can all be great friends," followed by a bow.

Everyone's eyes grew wide and a few jaws dropped.

Kazuko's heart sank as the silence kept its hold on the class. "D-Did I say something weird?"

Amaya-sensei was the first to recover. "No-No, you just surprised us. You speak very fluently."

Kazuko blushed a little. "Th-Thank you."

Amaya-sensei nodded with a smile and turned back towards the class. "I'm due for a new seating arrangement; so for now go ahead and sit in the seat next to Nico." She pointed at the vacant seat in the middle aisle, second row next to where a boy with spiked up white hair sat.

Kazuko nodded, took her seat, and gently placed her bag under her seat.

As the lesson started and Kazuko took notes she realized she was being watched. She turned her head ever so slightly, only to bring it back forward when she saw Nico looking at her affectionately. A blush ran along her face and she refused to look at him again.
Well, after being grounded for two weeks, I finally managed to type this up. I thought to change it up a bit, so instead of it being the first day of the school year, I had Kazuko transfer.
