The Guardian's Duelist Ch.2-1

The light of early morning began to brighten Duel Academy as the sun slowly started to rise over the horizon. Dew drops dripped from leaves and birds fell into their long awaited morning singing.

At the Sleifer Red dorm, sunshine was just beginning to fill the rooms when the spirit of Winged Kuriboh appeared from Jaden's deck on the desk. It floated over to the snoring Jaden, jumping up and down calling "Kuri. Kuri," to try and wake him.

Jaden eventually opened his eyes, staring drowsily at the spirit. "What's up, Kuriboh?" he asked with a large yawn.

"Kuri kuri," Winged Kuriboh cried, pointing with his small, pointed claw towards the window.

"There's something outside?" Jaden, suddenly wide awake, jumped from his bed. He threw on his dorm uniform, grabbed his deck and Duel Disk, and rushed out the door just as Syrus woke up and asked, "Jay?"

Jaden half-descended, half-jumped down the dorm stairs. He looked up at the Duel Monster. "Which way, Kuriboh?"

The transparent spirit looked around before floating towards the back of the dorms and down the hill, heading for the craggy cove by the lighthouse.

Jaden rushed after it, sliding down the hill and scattering dust and rocks. When he reached flat ground, he caught a glimpse of Winged Kuriboh turning a corner. He hurried around the pointed edge, just in time to have his breath taken away.

An eight feet tall, feminine dragon spirit, it's scales shining brightly gold in the sun besides the fact of being transparent, was curled up, an unconscious girl upon it's back, just below the lighthouse. A largely carved out diamond crystal was placed in the center of the dragon's finely curved head. She had no legs, but her giant, golden angel wings- studded with diamonds from starting point to ending wing tip- seemed well-muscled and highly capable of holding up the majestic beast if she were to climb the air.

Bravely, Jaden leaped from rock to rock and came to standing just feet away from the mighty dragon. "Hey," he called, not entirely sure what he was doing.

The dragon, who had been listening and kept her eyes on Winged Kuriboh the entire time, turned her head towards Jaden at the instant sound of his voice. Winged Kuriboh floated back over to Jaden and nodded with approval at the dragon.

With her sharp, golden eyes, the dragon studied the duelist for several heartbeats. Finally, she closed her eyes and, raising her head towards the sky, cried a beautiful melody before vanishing.
