The Guardian's Duelist Ch. 6 P-3

[Skip to flashback at a burger joint.]

"Thank-you, Miss Halo. Please come again," a teenager with a serious need of acne cream says as he hands Morgan two brown paper bags.

"Look, it's Morgan Halo," a girl's voice cries, and heads turn.

"Wow, it really is."

"To think such a famous duelist would be casually getting dinner like this."

"You would think she would have body guards or something."

Morgan tries to ignore the stares and whispers as she takes her bags and heads quickly towards the exit.

[Present Morgan's voice] "We all felt it; it was hard not to."

The floor begins to tremble and then violently shaking, sending several people to the ground.

Morgan begins to lose her balance and fall over, but suddenly, the Duel Spirit of a large fox creature the size of a miniature pony appeared and helped Morgan regain her balance. She looks at the spirit and it nods it's pointed head. The two look at what is unfolding; hanging lights are swaying back and forth, parents are pushing their kids under tables, employees are running out of the kitchen, and several others are trying to squeeze out of the doors in between the panicking crowd. The ground shakes for at least ten seconds before everything settles.

"There's more to this, young Guardian," the spirit says with a feminine, telepathic voice.

Morgan tenses up and rushes out of the exit that was now clear. Outside, everyone who had frantically fled the restaurant are all staring across the street. Morgan looks in that direction and gasps.

It is just as it had been a year earlier; a earthquake followed by Morgan's home bursting into flames. Morgan stares at the flames that are coming from her apartment and already licking at the other rooms.

"No.. not again. Not now!" Morgan cries.
